Retrieved from " https: October 5, Box to the Future 1. I found the tv series first and loved it so I went looking for the books. The books have very little in common with the tv series, let me just say that right from the start.

Not to say that that is a negative, it just is. So I admit that I spent the first half of the book trying figure out how the events of the tv show would fit into the book.

Once I just got over the fact that are completely different I started to enjoy the novel more.

I'm not going to go into a list of how they are the same and different, just know that this is not a rehashing of the events of the tv show.

I will say that the character of Joanne's sister is missing and I really liked her. So Sad. Hardcover Verified download. I watched the television series based on this book, really liked it, and so, I was very excited to read the novel. Because most of the time the book is so much better than the "movie. My first warning should have been the size of the book - it was very thin. Obviously, it either did not tell the entire tale or instead was an overview that the TV writers filled in with content.

Witches of East End

Turned out, the first was correct. This is NOT the entire tale, this book is the first in a series, and the author obviously chose not to tell her readers this. I find this to be a cheap marketing ploy to get more bucks out of the readers. If it's not the whole story, you should say so, author, before your reader downloads the book. This was not my only reason for being disappointed. The writing itself is very simplistic, the emotions of the characters are very shallow, and the characters themselves are cliches for the most part.

The actors in the series did a much better job of giving the characters some depth than the author did in this first book. If you loved the TV Series and hoped for more in the book, be prepared to be disappointed or prepared to shell out much more money to see if subsequent books manage to come up to the mark.

As for me, I'll stay with the TV series, and sell this book at my next garage sale. This book has been sitting on my Kindle for years.. So I picked up my Kindle and dove right back into the Witches Of East End, to get more of Freya, Ingrid and Joanna, and to see what was missing from the show, and if we would get the answers we were missing in the show, since it was abruptly cancelled and just ended. If you did watch the show when it aired, or like me, and binge watched it on a streaming service, the book follows along for the most part, but there are quite a few differences, and I can't tell if I like them more or less.

I did like Joanna's character a lot more in the book then I did in the show. I found her more likeable and endearing, but a lot less nurturing towards her daughters. She definitely seems to have a hands off approach to the girls, and definitely doesn't stop them from doing things they probably shouldn't be doing, like starting to practice magic again, especially since they've been banned.

I adored Freya's reckless and fun attitude towards life, and I felt her conflict between Bran and Killian, and how torn she was between them. She's definitely my favorite character in this book and I can't wait to read more of her in the next book.

Witches of East End (Book)

Then there's Ingrid who's the most logical out of the bunch, and I loved when she finally gave in and started practicing magic again as well. These three witches are fun to watch, and I was drawn into this book from beginning to end.

I forgot that I had known how some parts of this was going to play out, and was excited to see what was going to happen next. I had read and loved Melissa de la Cruz's Blue Blood Series, and was excited to see some cameo's by characters from those books as well in this book as well.

This was an amazing story, and I can't wait to dive into the next book to see what's in store for this family next. It may be an older release, but I do suggest picking it up if you're a lover of paranormal romance. It was a book I couldn't put down! One person found this helpful. As a fiction-lover. Paperback Verified download. If you're downloading this to catch up with the television show that was cancelled, don't.

The show was supposed to be based on the books, but they were completely different in my opinion. However, the books were great! As a fiction-lover, I liked how the story incorporates some Greek mythology and entwines it with the witching world.

I downloadd the author's other series "Blue Bloods" too since I enjoy her writing so much. However, it was extremely disappointing. If you know anything about Norse Legends you will be extremely frustrated with her trying to tie them into this book.

The characters completely change their history toward the end of the book with little to no explanation. Overall just poorly written. I will not be reading anymore of her work.

I picked up the book because I had liked the TV adaptation, but they are two very different stories. I'd like to say that the only thing that's the same are the character names, but even some of those were changed for TV. It's still an interesting story, though heavy handed on the sexual content and at times a bit predictable.

The characters are likable and their predicaments intriguing. The book is well paced and does a good job of providing character perspective.

The Beauchamps were blamed by that, accused accused of witchcraft and both Freya and Ingrid were condemned and executed for that crime. But then Freya, who is about to get married to the wealthy and mysterious Bran Gardiner, finds that her increasingly complicated romantic life makes it more difficult than ever to hide her secret. This closeness eventually culminates in her once again sleeping with Killian after he assists her with a busy weekend at the pub she works at.
