The book is a classic written around His ideas are still fresh and relevant like Ben Graham. In fact after reading this book I realized it is 2 in one book…on on long term value investment and second on attributes of great business.
So this is an investment and business book combined. Ken asks us to look for super companies that have temporarily faltered due to some issues glitch he calls them and then download when fundamentals indicate serious cheapness..Rather than enumerating the probability of each observation individually, standard distributions provide a convenient way to summarize the probabilities, such that a few statistics can tell you everything you have to know about the shape of things to come.
I consider it my creed, and in the course of my investing career it has served like a religion. In the years since it was first proposed, that last concept has proved to be particularly influential in the field of investing, so significant that it deserves its own chapter.
Experience, of course, looks to the past and considers the probability of future outcomes based on occurrence of historical events. The emphasis in value investing is on tangible factors like hard assets and cash flows.
