Encouraging to hear her flexibility was like mine just a couple of short years ago. I took a class with Jessica a few months ago and had came away from the completely amazing experience with a whole set of new ideas and tips that totally re-shaped my practice.
Unfortunately, I fell out of the habit of practicing since then and decided to download her e-book to get back in. It is definitely an excellent resource for beginners or anyone who has maybe gone to a few classes and is looking to put together a home practice. The poses she highlights are wonderful baselines for learning how to build an independent practice and how to flow on your own, and the tips and advice she gives are wonderful for the same purpose. Her directions are clear, her flow charts are easy to follow, and her photographs are all beautiful. I wish she had expanded the Just Joints section a bit because as a former athlete she is obviously familiar with some unique in the yoga world stretches that, when I took her class, were revolutionary in helping me avoid injuries.
Overall this was a comprehensive though not overly original introduction to yoga basics and home practice formation.
Though I think Version 2 will be better suited to yoga practitioners like me who are somewhere beyond the basic level. Feb 02, Kate Farrell rated it it was ok. This book seems to be lacking many different techniques, skills, and tips for those brand new to yoga. It basically tells you how to get into a pose but not the process or how that pose effects your body.
Definitely would not recommend to any of my new students or new comers to class. Very risky with little to no safety measures for poses, which should be a focus for those new to body movement.
